Optimizing Information Consumption for National Security Decision-Makers Using AI
Consultant: Erwin Godoy - Exponential Scout
Problem Statement:
Teams supporting national security decision-makers needed to drastically reduce the time spent curating news—consuming up to 24 hours—while ensuring only the most relevant news reached the decision-makers' desk.
Resolution:
I led the creation of a digital attack team composed of a product manager, designer, engineer, and technology scout. The team conducted over 50 interviews across the national security establishment, identifying and validating underserved and latent customer needs.

Using these insights, the team ran design sprints to define a curation solution, testing low-fidelity prototypes with users for rapid validation. To develop the machine-learning algorithm, we launched a nationwide hackathon, crowdsourcing innovation instead of relying on traditional defense contractors—saving billions.

The result: a machine-learning-driven solution that reduced daily information curation time from 24 hours to under 1 hour, significantly enhancing decision-making efficiency for national security leaders.
